The deadline for completing the sheep and pig censuses is February 29th.
For the sheep census, in addition to DECLARING the number of animals, it is mandatory to individually identify the breeders (ear tag number). These declared animals will be taken by the administration, starting April 30th, as the original reference list for the farm.
Only the animals listed in these censuses will be allowed for all management actions related to these animals (transport guides, sales, vaccinations, etc.).
This obligation is specified in Article 12.4.c, which came into force with Decree 50/2021, of May 26, regarding the development and application of specific aspects related to the identification, registration, and traceability of animals of bovine, porcine, ovine, caprine, and equine species in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.
